Cocktail Inspiration

“43% Happier” is a celebration of the steps we take in our lives to become happier. Being flexible is a key component to achieving this goal so it is no surprise that the versatility of Licor 43 is the star of the show. Realizing in 2021 during the global pandemic that my partner and I were in dire need of a massive change, we sold our home in the Washington DC region and moved to the beaches of Southern Delaware and Maryland. By incorporating local flavors with beachy inspirations, “43% Happier” works as a breakfast beverage, an after-dinner delight or an anytime choice sitting surfside with the cocktail loosely inspired by the classic Pain Killer. Utilizing a delicate and elegant local coffee roaster blend to magically meld with the orange and vanilla notes of Licor 43 is highly effective especially as they are complimented through the use of Peach Rum (surprisingly, lower Delaware peaches are phenomenal). The pineapple and coconut cream present body and flavor which allow the Licor 43 to shine through while all ingredients are tied together with cardamom bitters. A touch of surf and sun is sure to make you “43% Happier” while sharing a beverage with a loved one alongside the Atlantic.

Ingredients

• 30 Ml. Licor 43 Original
• 30 Ml. Cruzan Peach Rum
• 30 Ml. Real Cream of Coconut
• 30 Ml. Pineapple Juice, Strained
• 90 Ml. Cold brew Rise Up Organic Maryland Coffee Blend
• 4 Dashes Scrappy's Cardamom Bitters

Method

Cocktail Preparation

• Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice. Seal with smaller shaker.
• Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
• Fine strain over fresh ice in to Viski Pearl Diver glass.
• Garnish with 3 candy peach rings.
• Serve and enjoy.

Coffee Preparation

• In a sealable, non-reactive vessel, combine 100 grams coarsely ground per 500 ml water. Seal vessel.
• Refrigerate for 24 hours.
• Fine strain ensuring all sediment is removed. Coffee grounds may be saved as plant fertilizer or for compost.
• Refrigerate and use as needed.
