Café du Minuit

By NOAH FORESTER

United States of America

Hi my name is Noah, I’m 22 and I’m from Portland, Oregon. I fell in love with cocktails right after leaving college. I quickly climbed the ranks from busser, to Barback, to bartender and then Mixologist and manager before restarting in Vegas recently

Cocktail Inspiration

This cocktail is inspired by the city of New Orleans for both the invention of the Sazerac (the template for my cocktail) and the famous Café du Monde. I wanted to create a cocktail that had delicious spice and vanilla coffee while still keeping the main focus on the base spirit(s), thus the Café du Minuit was born

Ingredients

  • 15 Ml. Licor 43 Original
  • 15 Ml. Disaronno Almeretto
  • 45 Ml. Rye whiskey (Rittenhouse)
  • 15 Ml. Aged Rum (Mount Gay)
  • 8 Ml. Espresso
  • 2 Dashes Orange Bitters

Method

Cocktail Preparation
  • Add the amaretto in to a double rocks glass, siding it to coat the inside of the glass before dumping the remainder.
  • Next add rye, rum, Licor 43, espresso and bitters into a mixing glass and stir for approximately 30 seconds or until properly diluted
  • Add large form ice (large cube if available) into the rinsed glass and stain in the cocktail
  • Finally garnish with an orange twist
Coffee Preparation
  • Medium-dark roast espresso
