As a Latinx bartender of Cuban heritage, creating “Redeye to CDMX” was a personal journey into my broader Latin roots. Though I’m not Mexican, I feel a profound connection to the shared cultural and historical threads that bind us as Latin Americans.

Cocktail Inspiration

The inspiration was to capture the essence of Mesoamerican history, blending the old with the new, and creating a harmonious symphony of flavors that celebrate the spirit of Mexico.

Ingredients

  • 15 Ml. Licor 43 Original
  • 15 Ml. Giffard Banane du Bresil Liqueur
  • 30 Ml. Mala Mia Mezcal espadin
  • 30 Ml. Rise brewing company nitro cold brew

Method

Cocktail Preparation
  • In a Boston shaker add all ingredients.
  • Add ice
  • Close Boston shaker and shake vigorously
  • Strain into rocks glass with Hawthorne strainer
  • And one large ice cube
  • Garnish with caramelized bananas sprinkled with black lava sea salt
